Defense of the Land

Posted on:

Well as you know, about a month ago I put a brutally honest post into the forums, about being sick of playing the bridesmaid role when it comes to Clan Wars. Well all I can say is that I am loving not being a bridesmaid anymore.

A win yesterday gave us land, so instead of losing it straight away we wanted to hold it. And a fantastic effort by all. The Commander, Dept Commanders, and Field Commanders got together 2 hours before the match, to work on fine tuning of the normal strategy. The discussion although starting to heat up, got to a point where, we were all happy with the way we were going to roll out.

Then we decided, was as good a time as any, to ensure our players, knew where they could go without getting smashed by Arty. So we went into a Training Room, to better understand what we were doing.

Rising Sun Killers got through to battle us. Unfortunately they had lost to us for the previous 4 days straight, so they tried something different with their strategy. Lets just say it failed badly.

To the guys that missed the fight today, I apologize. To the guys that were in the battle, WELL DONE!!!! I think we can chalk that tactic up, as worthwhile to keep. And no it wasn’t really defensive. The best form of Defense, is a strong Offence, and we proved that we are a force to be reckoned with.

This weekends WoT Warfare

Most of you know, that I have put a confrontational post in the forums. Heck, I am known for it. I call a spade a spade, and if it is a shovel, well I will call it a damn shovel. This was not having a go at anyone, this was to reawaken the push for bigger tanks.

I don’t know  about the rest of you but I am sick of being the bridesmaid. That was all well and good while we were grinding away in low tier tanks, getting strats right, but now we have the tanks, and the strats.

Don’t know what post I am talking about then read the following.

So this weekend, we fight, and we WIN land!!!!!

Well Done to BiggBaldwin

I would just like to say congratulations to BiggBaldwin, one of our Happy Tankers. He entered into the WoT Hymn contest, along with a couple of other members.

Fifth place and 1,000 in-game gold go to biggbaldwin, for his Hymn which was the following:

THE CHARGE OF THE ARMORED BRIGADE

[may be sung to the tune of America(my country tis to thee)/God save the Queen]

Let loose the flame of War,
red tide that breaks the shore-
let thunder roar

Down on the foe we sweep
our steel a scythe to reap
and fling them to Death’s keep-
to Death’s cold keep

Now from our courage smelt
honor that will not melt
though Death’s blows dealt

Here on this battlefield
know that now we wield
a fist that will not yield-
that will not yield

The raving of the fight,
the pound of iron might
and bloodshed’s bite

Now into battle soar
amidst the cannon’s roar
and every man a man of war-
a man of war

More than meets the eye

TIDMADT is about more than just World of Tanks… We are “A Worldwide Online Gaming Community”, which means that we support any game that gets played online, whether it is a computer or console game.  Already we have a strong showing in APB, Rift and League of Legends and more games are being added.  Our console gaming group is growing, and hopefully soon we will see masses of XBox and PS3 members filling out our ranks.

Online gaming has come a long way since the days of CompuServe and AOL.  There was a time when all games online were text based, and you were lucky there were 2 or 3 dedicated people in your area who you could talk games with.  Today, we are online 24/7, games boast multimedia that rivals Hollywood, and it is hard to find a family where at least one member isn’t glued to the screen.

TIDMADT has its origins in those old BBS day games, and most of our admins have grown up playing.  This website is our chance to do what we love, to game, and help bring games to others.  Soon (hopefully) TIDMADT will start setting up game servers for our members, and I plan on adding a few web-based games to the site for your enjoyment.

Flash and Javascript have helped make the web more interactive, and the days are returning when a dedicated group of enthusiasts can bring a quality game out.  Of course, it’s hard to compete with companies that have multi-million dollar budgets, but in the old days, games were written by a handful of programmers (usually just one) and written to run on tight memory and storage constraints (64k of memory at most!)  The thing is, without the flashy graphics, the games were REALLY fun… they were enjoyable… they were PLAYABLE!
